Give a brief introduction:
I was born and brought up in a Bengali family of accountants and mathematicians in Calcutta. My parents, retired currently, have been in the banking industry and sparked my interests in Finance world from a young age. My early childhood was spent in a countryside, surrounded by nature and farming. After completing my education in Calcutta, I started my professional career with a Mumbai based financial services firm. Since then, I have spent 13 years in the Finance Industry and I have developed a keen interest in emerging technologies and sustainable investments for environmental and social responsibility – my way of reducing our carbon footprint.
Beyond the world of finance, I am passionate about arts and I create charcoal sketches inspired by creatures from the fantasy realm. Being fascinated by Spanish culture across the globe, I started learning Spanish and currently pursuing my A2 level.
What is your current profession?
I am working with a top Investment Bank as a Vice President. I am responsible for overseeing a wide range of financial operations projects and the implementation of various product solutions across all areas of the business.
What kind of philanthropic/fundraising work have you done?
A few years ago, I had the opportunity to conduct weekly voluntary sessions for the National Association for the Blind. These sessions were focused on providing the candidates with the skills and confidence they needed to excel in job interviews. I guided the candidates and conducted mock interviews, ensuring that they were well-prepared for the professional world. It was a profoundly fulfilling experience, and I cherish the moments spent empowering others.
What is your dream job?
At present, I am living my dream job, working for an investment bank learning the dynamic world of finance and technology, which offers a blend of opportunities for growth.
Ten years from now where do you see yourself?
Looking ahead, I see myself a future where I play a more important role in giving back to society and protecting our environment. It includes creating jobs, engaging in more welfare activities, and, most importantly, contributing for environmental preservation. I want to ensure that my next generations do not have to bear the brunt of the looming climate changes.
Tell us about your educational background?
My educational journey has been a mixture of formal learning and real-world experience. I completed my education in Kolkata, India, a region renowned for imparting education. I hold a Bachelor’s in Accounting Honours from the University of Calcutta, followed by a post-graduation in Finance from Calcutta Business School.
Tell us more about your family, with whom you are closest?
I am closest to my younger sister. She behaves like my elder sister, fiercely protective of me, and pampers me like crazy. She lives in the Netherlands, and I miss our daily gossips, chats, and the sibling fights, but we make sure we are there for each other whenever needed. It is as if “together we cannot stay, and when apart, we cannot live.”
